Kansas City & A Half Marathon

A few months ago my sister-in-law Tausha asked me if I wanted to run a half marathon with her in Kansas City, where she now lives while her husband goes to Medical School. Somehow she convinced me to do it. After I ran the NYC Marathon I swore I would never do another race and well, after this race I thought the same thing, ha! I was excited to go to Kansas City and was also excited to have something to train for. I work out much harder when I have a race. We went to the expo the day before and I casually asked one of the workers how many hills there were in the race. She laughed. She proceeded to tell me that it was 80% uphill and Runner's World ranked it as the hardest half marathon in the U.S. Boy, oh boy was she right. It WAS uphill most of the time and it was very very hard. Luckily I had Tausha to run with and we had a blast. We never stopped and beat our goal of 2 hours. It was so much fun to see Kansas City, eat lots of food, and do some good shopping. The best part was getting to visit Tausha and Jacob! My mother in law was such a help with Brooklyn, and was so sweet to let us go with her on the trip! We got to see all of Kansas City (oh how green it is) and Liberty Jail. Liberty Jail was wonderful to see and made me so grateful for all of the amazing men and women that suffered so much so the church could be restored. We had a blast and miss Tausha already!
